Delete your Readiary account

You can permanently delete your Readiary account and everything in it at any time. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone, so please export anything you want to keep first.

Delete from inside the app (fastest)

1. Open Readiary and make sure you're signed in.
2. Go to Settings (the icon in the top right of the Home screen).
3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
4. Confirm when asked. Your account and data are erased straight away and you're signed out.

Prefer to email us?

Write to hello@getreadiary.com from the email address on your Readiary account, with the subject “Delete my account”. We verify the request comes from the account holder and complete the deletion within 30 days, usually much sooner. We'll email you to confirm once it's done.

What gets deleted

Deleting your account permanently removes all of the following:

• your account and sign-in credentials;
• your profile — reader name, library name, and username;
• your entire library — books, reading status, progress, and reading sessions;
• your diary entries, saved quotes, and book memories;
• your lists, series, wishlist, and gift notes;
• photos you uploaded, including quote photos and memory images;
• your reading goals, stats, and notification preferences;
• your friend connections, recommendations, and book discussion messages;
• your membership record and any device push-notification tokens.

What is kept, and for how long

We keep only what the law or our payment providers require, and never for marketing:

• Billing and tax records — if you ever subscribed to Readiary Plus, our payment providers (Apple, Google, or Stripe) retain transaction records for the period required by financial and tax law, typically up to 7 years. These are held by the payment provider, not used by Readiary, and can't be deleted on request.
• Content reports — if another reader reported one of your messages for abuse, the report and the reported message are retained for up to 12 months so we can act on it and meet our safety obligations to other users.
• Routine server logs — security and error logs may contain an IP address or account identifier and are automatically discarded within 90 days.
• Backups — deleted data may persist in encrypted database backups for up to 30 daysbefore those backups age out. It isn't accessible in the app during that time.

Deleting some data without deleting your account

You don't have to delete everything. Inside the app you can remove individual books, diary entries, quotes, memories, lists, and photos at any time, and unfriend or block other readers. If you'd like a specific category of data cleared but want to keep your account, email hello@getreadiary.com and tell us what to remove.

Export first, if you want a copy

Before deleting, you can save everything: go to Settings → Export your datain the app to download your library and memories. Once deletion runs, we can't recover it for you.
