Readiary
Readiary is built to help you remember your reading life — not to harvest or sell it. We collect as little as possible, keep your reading data yours, and we never sell your personal information. 💛
Readiary ("Readiary," "we," "us") is a reading-life tracking app operated by Readiary, based in the United States. You can reach us anytime at hello@getreadiary.com.
1. The reading content you create.Books you add, reading status and progress, ratings, your "Book Memory" entries (feelings, quotes, what a book meant to you), journal entries, reading sessions, lists, wishlists, and goals. You choose what to enter.
2. Photos you take with "Snap a Quote" and the barcode scanner. When you photograph a page to capture a quote, the image is processed on your own device to read the text — it is not uploaded to our servers. Only the quote text and/or cropped image you choose to save is stored with your book. The barcode scanner likewise reads the code on your device and uses only the resulting book identifier (ISBN) to look up details.
3. Account information. When you create an account, we (through our infrastructure provider) process your email addressand a securely stored password so you can sign in and sync your library across your devices. If you choose to use Readiary without an account, we don't collect an email or password from you.
4. Basic technical information. Like most apps, our hosting and infrastructure providers may automatically process limited technical data (such as device/browser type and IP address) to deliver and secure the service. We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not sell this information.
In your account (cloud sync).When you're signed in, your reading data is stored securely with our database provider (Supabase, a Postgres database with per-user access controls) and synced across your devices, so your library is durable and available everywhere. Each user can access only their own data.
On your device. If you use Readiary without signing in, your library and memories are saved locally in your own browser/device storageand aren't synced. Clearing your browser data or removing the app can erase them, so we recommend using the in-app "Back up my reading life" export to keep your own copy.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for third-party advertising.
We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party sites and encourage you to review their policies.
Some book links in Readiary are affiliate links. If you buy through them, Readiary may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you, and Bookshop.org and Libro.fm purchases also help support independent bookstores. These links work through cookies set by those retailers when you visit them — they don't give those retailers access to your Readiary data.
The Readiary app itself does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. It stores data locally on your device to make the app work (for example, your library and settings). Third-party sites you choose to visit may set their own cookies under their policies.
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including per-user access controls on cloud-synced data. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we work to safeguard your reading life and keep our practices privacy-first.
Readiary is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact hello@getreadiary.comand we'll delete it.
We keep your information for as long as you use Readiary or as needed to provide the service. Locally stored data remains until you clear it; cloud-synced data remains until you delete it or your account.
We may update this policy as Readiary grows. We'll revise the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, aim to notify you within the app.
